Program Highlights & Accreditation
The Stockton University Master of Public Health (MPH) program prepares students to serve as evidence-based practitioners and leaders in the dynamic and collaborative field of public health.
The mission of the Master of Public Health Program at Stockton University is to advance the field of public health and promote the health of individuals and communities at the local, regional, national and global level with an emphasis on health equity and social justice. The program develops public health practitioners and leaders who collaborate with, advocate for, and empower the communities they serve, promoting student success and preparing students to meet future career challenges through student-centered instruction, research, scholarship, and service to diverse communities.
The MPH program will seek accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the nationally recognized body that establishes rigorous standards and oversight for public health programs.
Delivery Modes
Courses in the MPH program are delivered in an online/hybrid format. Students may enroll on a full-time or part-time basis.
One hybrid course, Public Health Practice: Leadership and Personal Mastery, includes in-person components on two weekends at Stockton’s Atlantic City campus.
Curriculum Overview
The Master of Public Health Program is comprised of 42 credits.
The curriculum is based on the core competencies of public health:

Key components include an Applied Practice Experience (internship/practicum of approximately 200 hours, 2 credits) and an Integrative Learning Experience (1 credit).
Core courses include: Introduction to Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Community Assessment, Planning and Evaluation, Community Health Education and Promotion, Environmental and Occupational Health, Global Health, Health Care Economics and American Health Policy, Health Disparities & Health Equity, Public Health Practice: Leadership and Personal Mastery, Public Health Practice: Current Issues and Methodologies, Public Health Practice: Research Evaluation and Application, and Public Health Practice: Grant Writing and Management.
Admissions Requirements
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Prerequisite coursework includes:
At least one undergraduate course in Biology with a grade of B or higher.
At least one undergraduate course in Statistics with a grade of B or higher.
Application components include:
A completed online application.
A $50 non-refundable application fee.
Graduate application essay.
Three current letters of recommendation (one academic, one professional; the third can be either).
Current resume.
Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.
The application deadline for Fall 2025 is rolling, with a priority deadline of July 1.
Career & Practical Experience
The MPH program provides students with foundational skills, education, research experience, and service opportunities in public health settings.
Graduates are prepared for roles in various organizations, including:
State and county health departments
Non-profit agencies
Hospital population health departments/offices
Wellness centers
Academic institutions
Students are required to complete an Applied Practice Experience (internship) of approximately 200 contact hours. This experience provides real-world application of public health practices and can take place in settings such as community-based organizations, health care agencies, academic settings, non-profit organizations, and governmental/non-governmental agencies. Eligibility for the internship begins after completing at least 21 credits in the MPH program.
