Dual MPH/Physician Assistant Program at Saint Louis University Program Overview 2025
Program Highlights & Accreditation
Saint Louis University's Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) and Physician Assistant Master of Medical Science (M.M.S.) dual-degree program is a collaboration between the College for Public Health and Social Justice and the Doisy College of Health Sciences Department of Clinical Health Sciences . This dual degree allows students to complete both degrees in an accelerated fashion. Students first complete M.P.H. coursework over three consecutive semesters (summer, fall, and spring) before focusing on M.M.S. studies.
Saint Louis University's College for Public Health and Social Justice, which houses the M.P.H. program, is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Accreditation documentation can be found on the College for Public Health and Social Justice website . The Saint Louis University Physician Assistant Program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA).
Delivery Modes
The dual-degree program is offered in an accelerated, on-campus format. Coursework for the M.P.H. component is completed at the College of Public Health and Social Justice, followed by M.M.S. studies within the physician assistant program in the Doisy College of Health Sciences.
Curriculum Overview
Students in the dual-degree program first focus on the M.P.H., completing three consecutive semesters (summer, fall, and spring) of M.P.H. coursework. Subsequently, students begin their M.M.S. studies. Six credit hours of coursework from the M.M.S. curriculum also count as elective credits toward the M.P.H. degree. This credit efficiency allows students to complete both degrees in three and a half academic years.
Admissions Requirements
Prospective students must apply separately to both the M.P.H. program and the M.M.S. (Physician Assistant) program and meet the admissions requirements for each. Acceptance into both programs is necessary to pursue the dual degree. M.P.H. coursework begins in the summer semester following acceptance into both programs.
