The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Curriculum Overview

The MPH program requires the completion of 42 credits, typically comprising 14 courses. Core courses provide a strong foundation in essential public health disciplines, including:

Students also take specialization-specific courses and electives. The program culminates in practical learning experiences, including PUBH.6660 MPH Practicum and PUBH.6670 Integrated Practical Learning.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.000. Prerequisite coursework includes at least one semester of statistics and one semester of either biology or anatomy and physiology, with grades of C or better. Required application materials include:

• Completed online application

• $50 application fee

• Statement of purpose

• Two letters of recommendation

• Official transcripts (international transcripts require NACES agency credential evaluation)

• English proficiency test scores (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo) if English is not the national language of your home country. The GRE is not required.

Cost & Financial Aid

For Summer 2025, online graduate tuition is $600 per credit hour, making a 3-credit course $1,800. The total estimated tuition for the 42-credit MPH program is $25,200. Additional costs include a $30 term registration fee and a $50 graduate degree and certificate application fee. Tuition for online programs is the same for in-state, out-of-state, and international students. UMass Lowell offers a variety of financial aid and scholarship options. Students are encouraged to explore these through the university's financial aid office.
