MPH with Epidemiology Emphasis/Concentration

The Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is a professional degree program administratively based in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health within the School of Medicine. It is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The program aims to work together to change the world of public health, building upon the rich history and tradition of excellence of the School of Medicine. Key features include a 42-credit hour curriculum, an interdisciplinary student body with approximately 30% joint degree students and 70% MPH students, a low student-to-faculty ratio, and approximately 50 students currently enrolled. The MPH Program fosters a vibrant and growing academic community with a strong research environment, outstanding university resources, and supports broad-based interdisciplinary scholarship, research, practice, leadership, and policy.

The MPH program offers both full-time and part-time options to accommodate diverse student needs. All students enter the program in the fall term, which begins the first week of July. This standardized entry allows students to complete the program within the required time limits.

The MPH program is a 42-credit hour professional degree. Students can choose from three distinct concentrations:

• Community & Population Health

• Epidemiology

• Global Health

In addition to the MPH degree, the program offers joint degree options with six professional schools on campus, facilitating broad-based interdisciplinary scholarship.
