Program Highlights & Accreditation

The Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program. This program emphasizes the knowledge and skills of core public health fields and the integration and application of those fields to public health practice. The program aims to prepare health professionals for careers that emphasize public health, including those that bridge medicine and public health.

The program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), as indicated by resources associated with the program.

Curriculum Overview

The program features a Generalist concentration. This concentration includes a core set of requirements focusing on the five core disciplines in Public Health:

• Biostatistics

• Environmental Health

• Epidemiology

• Health Policy Management

• Social and Behavioral Sciences

The curriculum includes an Integrated Learning Experience (ILE) .

Career & Practical Experience

The MPH program prepares students for careers that emphasize public health and those that bridge medicine and public health. It aims to equip graduates with the skills to practice skillful and evidence-based preventive public health, conduct and communicate research, and provide interdisciplinary expertise. The Integrated Learning Experience (ILE) serves as a key component for practical application of knowledge.
