Accelerated Bachelor's/MPH Program at Rutgers University-Newark Program Overview 2025
Program Highlights
The Rutgers School of Public Health offers an Accelerated Bachelors/Master of Public Health (MPH) program designed for highly-qualified undergraduate students. This pathway allows students to begin graduate coursework during their undergraduate studies, earning their Bachelor's degree first, followed by the MPH degree in approximately 3-5 additional semesters.
The program is a partnership with Rutgers University - New Brunswick, Rutgers University - Newark, Rutgers University - Camden, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
Delivery Modes
The MPH component of this accelerated program is delivered on-campus at the New Brunswick and Newark locations. The program is structured to accelerate the completion of the MPH degree.
Curriculum Overview
The MPH degree requires a total of 45 credit hours. This includes 18 credits of core courses, 15-18 credits of required concentration courses, 6-9 credits of electives, and a 3-credit Practicum Capstone. Additionally, students complete a non-credit Applied Practice Experience (APE) and an Interprofessional Education Experience (IPE).
Through the accelerated pathway, students can take up to 18 graduate-level MPH credits while still undergraduates. These credits may count towards both the bachelor's and MPH degrees, providing advanced standing upon formal matriculation into the School of Public Health for the MPH.
It is important to note that graduate credits earned as an undergraduate through this specific accelerated program cannot be transferred to other graduate programs.
