The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Case Western Reserve University prepares students to enhance public health through education, research, policy, and practice. It is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

Delivery Modes

The MPH program offers a flexible course of study, primarily delivered through in-person engagement at the university campus. Students can pursue the program full-time, typically completing it in two years, or opt for part-time study.

Curriculum Overview

This 42-credit hour program allows students to specialize by choosing one of five concentrations:

• Population Health Research

• Global Health

• Health Policy and Management

• Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

• Health Informatics

The curriculum culminates in a Public Health Practicum and a multi-semester capstone project, enabling students to apply their learning in a real-world public health setting. The program also emphasizes quantitative research methods.

Admissions Requirements

Prospective students should submit the following application materials:

• Online application: via SOPHAS for the MPH-only program (Apply at SOPHAS ), or the CWRU dual-degree application for dual-degree options (Apply at CWRU Apply ).

• Personal and educational information.

• Personal statement detailing academic and professional goals.

• Current resume or curriculum vitae (CV).

• Three letters of recommendation.

• Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.

• TOEFL or IELTS scores for international applicants (waiver possible if prior degree instruction was in English).

Standardized test scores (e.g., GRE) are not required for admission to the MPH program.

The program provides substantial practical experience through:

• A mandatory Public Health Practicum and capstone project, where students address community health problems in an organizational setting.

• Engagement in research projects within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences, focusing on biostatistics, epidemiology, and computational biology to tackle critical health issues.
